Set Image Filename As Alt Text

Overview

Set Image Filename As Alt Text fills image alt text from the uploaded file name.

How It Works

When an image is uploaded, Admin Optimizer uses the filename to populate the image alt text field.

When to Use It

Use it when your upload filenames are descriptive and you want a baseline alt text value added automatically.

Setup Guide

  1. Go to Admin Optimizer > Content & SEO.
  2. Toggle the switch for Set image filename as alt text.

What the user should test after setup

Upload a new image to the Media Library and verify that its Alt Text field is automatically populated with the file’s name.

Verify it’s Working

Go to Media > Add New Media File and upload an image (for example, sunset-over-the-beach.jpg). Once uploaded, click on the image to view its attachment details. The “Alternative Text” field should be automatically filled with the filename (e.g., “sunset-over-the-beach”).

Set Image Filename As Alt Text settings toggle
Toggle the Set image filename as alt text module from the Admin Optimizer Content & SEO settings page.

Settings

This module has no dedicated settings beyond the enable toggle.

Notes

Always review alt text for accessibility. A filename-derived value may not describe the image well enough.
